Insanity Running Rampant in D.C.

MESSAGE TO SUPPORTERS OF DONALD TRUMP:

Ain't hindsight a bitch?

Idiot Nation.

Mika
The president of the United States of America is certifiably insane. I'm repeating myself, I know, but it needs to be drummed into the consciousness of all whom may still find themselves in various stages of denial. We can no longer pretend that this sort of behavior is normal. Of course this fact has been obvious to those of us who make a habit of paying attention to the American train-wreck. And it did not become apparent during the course of the 2016 campaign; we've known this for decades. You can almost see the little birdies flying out of the man's ears. On this morning's Morning Joe program on MSNBC Mika Brzezinski said, "This is no longer funny." I beg to disagree. What is happening at the moment in the White House is just about the funniest thing I've ever witnessed.

The latest chapter in our National Nervous Breakdown occurred early Saturday morning when the Donald let loose this humdinger of a tirade on Twitter:

"Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!"

Whoa! This is indeed something that needs to be looked into! Put Jefferson Beauregard on the hunt. He'll get to the bottom of this....

But seriously folks.

And where did Trump come up with this alternative fact? Not from a national security briefing, you may be assured. He read it on the white nationalist website, Breitbart, which lifted it almost verbatim from an on-the-air tantrum that was broadcast a few days earlier on the Mark Levin program. Levin is one of the more notable right wing crazies currently fouling the American airwaves. This is where the president gets his information. Ain't that a scream?

First of all, it would be kinda nice if Trump, in his capacity as commander-in-chief, would take the time to learn some remedial facts about the power of the presidency - or the lack thereof in this case. No president has the power to arbitrarily order a citizen's telephone to be wiretapped. That sort of unchecked power was ended over forty years ago, the direct result of the abuses that were committed by Dick Nixon and his gang. Obama could not have tapped Trump's phone even if he wanted to for the simple reason that he didn't have the power. A tap would have required an intelligence agency obtaining a warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. And if that warrant had, indeed, been obtained, the judges in question would had to have been convinced that there was, indeed, some dangerously illegal shit going down.

Either Trump is lying about (and libeling) a former president, or the wiretap was placed inside the tower because a few judges were utterly convinced that serious crimes were being committed. Either way, Trump is left with Borscht on his face. White House insiders have kindly leaked to the press that the Donald has been in a blind rage all week. Gee, ya think?

And who can blame him? Forty-five days into this disgusting administration and the wheels have become completely disengaged from the clown car. The clowns are all on fire, running hysterically in every direction. I'd be pissed off, too! So would you! Let me repeat myself: This is the funniest thing I've ever been privileged enough to bear witness to. These are wondrous times to be alive. They really are!

About a month ago my prediction was that we would have to wait two years for the Dems to take control again for this bat-shit-crazy thug to be removed via the impeachment process. Now I'm not so sure. There is no way in hell that this travesty can continue for any great length of time. It would seem that Trump's insurance against impeachment is Mike Pence. No one in his or her right mind would sleep very soundly at night knowing that someone possessing his perverted ideology was calling the shots. My only comfort in this scenario is that, although old Mike may be dumber than a box of dead snails, he's not insane....or at least, I don't think he's insane. Let me get back to you on that.

For a political news junkie such as I, the last forty-five days have been breathtaking. Obama was a good, capable president (in most respects) but - Geez Louise! - the guy could be boring at times. Say what you will about Donald Trump - he's not boring. Anything but!

I wouldn't be so fast to make that claim. I remember you expressing outrage when the news broke about James Rosen and members of AP being targets of surveillance. Have you forgotten?

PRODUCE FISA RECORDS: Obama’s HISTORY of FISA Abuse

theblacksphere.net/2017/03/produce-fisa-records-obamas-history-fisa-abuse/

* The US National Security Agency bugged a private climate change strategy meeting; between UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin;

* Obama singled out the Director of the Rules Division of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Johann Human, and targeted his Swiss phone for long term interception;
* Furthermore, Obama stole sensitive Italian diplomatic cables detailing how Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu implored Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to help patch up his relationship with US President Barack Obama, who was refusing to talk to Netanyahu;
* Obama intercepted top EU and Japanese trade ministers discussing their secret strategy and red lines to stop the US “extort[ing]” them at the WTO Doha arounds (the talks subsequently collapsed);
*In addition, Obama explicitly targeted five other top EU economic officials for long term interception, including their French, Austrian and Belgium phone numbers;
* Obama explicitly targeted the phones of Italy’s ambassador to NATO and other top Italian officials for long term interception; and
* Obama intercepted details of a critical private meeting between then French president Nicolas Sarkozy, Merkel and Berluscon, where the latter was told the Italian banking system was ready to “pop like a cork”.

* In 2013 the liberal Washington Post expressed outrage after the revelation that the Justice Department had investigated the news gathering activities of a Fox News reporter as a potential crime in a probe of classified leaks. The reporter, Fox News’ James Rosen and his family, were part of an investigation into government officials anonymously leaking information to journalists. Rosen was not charged. However, his movements and actions were tracked.

wiretaps* Also in 2013, members of the Associated Press were also a target of the surveillance. The ultra liberal New Yorker even noted that “In moderate and liberal circles, at least, the phone-records scandal, partly because it involves the dear old A.P. and partly because it raises anew the specter of Big Brother, may well present the most serious threat to Obama’s reputation.”
* Sharyl Attkisson reported her personal computer and CBS laptop were hacked in 2014. This occured after she began filing stories about Benghazi that were unflattering to the Obama administration. A source who checked her laptop said the hacker used spyware “proprietary to a government agency,” according to an article in the New York Post.

Then there is Obama's IRS targeting the Tea Party.

Trump, since he is really not a conservative at his core, tends to act emotionally in knee-jerk responses to the latest issues like a typical Leftist college protester. I think it is exceptionally dangerous and undermining of President Trump's credibility to level such serious accusations and then not provide any corroborating evidence of the charge.

Is it possible that Obama did this, even surreptitiously outside of normal government channels? Considering his past history of illegalities as Majormajor listed, it is quite possible. After all, look how far the corrupt Democrats are willing to go to derail Bernie Sanders by the DNC colluding with corrupt Hillary in order to RIG AN ELECTION, without any help from the Russians whatsoever! All of that said, Trump needs to put forth evidence or retract and apologize for his outburst on this issue. I am not holding my breath for either.

Obama didn't bug Trump. Why should he? Trump orders classified military action from dinner in a public place on an unsecured phone. He tweets all night and never listens to security briefings.

Trump is his own worst enemy, why make an effort to bring him down when he'd doing fine on his own?

Let's get back to the Russian connection and stop obsessing on deflections.

How about we let them get back to governing the nation and calling them out on REAL transgressions instead?

TP,

Trump, since he is really not a conservative at his core, tends to act emotionally in knee-jerk responses to the latest issues like a typical Leftist college protester.

Your illogical knee- jerk rationalization is like a typical Alex Jones or Rush Limbaugh reaction. Trump has installed a far Right Administration. That’s what a conservative would do. His cabinet is of Exxon/Mobile, by Goldman Sachs, and most certainly for the Kochs. Follow the money.

Actions speak louder than words. Even Trump’s words. College kids vandalized. Racist Trumpists shoot people.

So stop with your lame lecture on who “tends to act emotionally in knee-jerk responses”. The trail of blood tells us you are projecting, and are quite impervious to facts that do not suit your ideology. You chastised me for calling out Major Chuck’s regurgitated lie about Democrats sitting “in stone silence”, disrespecting the widow at Trump’s address to Congress.

Why did you choose to be impervious to that fact?

I would suggest the lie suited your ideological resentments for Democrats, so you needed to attack me instead of the lie and liar. And that is what you did. I forgive you, for you know not what you do by your illogical knee- jerk rationalization.

Mozart, there is about as much evidence for Trump colluding with the Russians as there is for Obama wire-tapping Trump.

This is false. Not only did Trumpists meet and deny meeting with Russians, but there was this:

"Russia, if you're listening..." Some true believers buy Trump’s “sarcastic humor” backtracking. Trump also said, “I don’t kid”, but true believers have it both ways.

Now you show us where Obama said ANYTHING about tapping Trump? Go ahead, show us Obama even joking about it. You cannot. Trump is a dangerous liar. He has demeaned the office more than all his predecessors combined. All in the service of Republicanism and conservatism. CPAC loves him, so spare us your “not a true conservative” babble.

RE: Considering his past history of illegalities as Majormajor listed

Did your “considering” include the facts?

Mr. Deming sheds light on Major’s copy and paste.

Most of your examples don’t seem to involve Americans. It is worth taking a brief look at those that do.

Sharyl Attkisson may not be your best example. I’m going by increasingly faulty memory, but I think the “source who checked her laptop” was never revealed, and there was no reason that it wouldn’t be. I remember reading that her suspicions were founded on a deletion of part of her work that she had not made herself. An investigation concluded that the deletion was caused by the backspace key being stuck, rather than remote spyware. That may not have been reliable, though. It was based on examination of her keyboard. She never allowed her employer or outside investigators to look at her computer. She stuck by her story, though. Good for her.

I don’t think the Fox Reporter involved a wiretap. That was an investigation intended to find the federal employee who exposed the existence of a top information source within the N. Korean government. The Fox reporter was never under threat of prosecution: including the fact that he received stolen classified information was necessary to find the government source. As I recall, the federal employee was either prosecuted or suffered some sort of administrative penalty. No word on the fate of the N. Korean. Presumably, it was horrible.

Same sort of deal for the AP reporters. No wiretap. A government employee had exposed a spy the British had managed to place within the top level of al Qaeda. He had just secreted information to us that prevented an airliner from being blown up. Fortunately he managed to escape after being exposed. No idea of how many more terrorist deaths would have been prevented if he had been able to stay.

But we do value freedom of the press, right?

Majormajor, some of our friends on the left are always going to be impervious to facts.

This kindly projection on behalf of a proven liar tells us who is more likely to be impervious to facts, good sir.

Thank Obama, not the Russians or their useful idiots, for the jobs report.

For a different view. “Today’s jobs numbers make clear what we have known for some time: President Trump did not inherit a mess”.

Washington Post:

Trump team taking more and more credit for Obama successes

THE BIG IDEA: While Donald Trump accuses his predecessor of wiretapping his office and prods Congress to eviscerate his signature domestic achievement, he also demands credit for Obama administration victories that he had nothing or little to do with.

-- The Bureau for Labor Statistics announced this morning that the U.S. added 235,000 jobs in February, bringing the unemployment rate down to 4.7 percent and likely giving the Federal Reserve the green light to raise interest rates next week.

February was the first full month of Trump’s term, but it was also the 77th consecutive month of job growth. Most economists say the 235,000 figure merely reflects the continuation of longer-term trends and caution against attributing too much to Trump at this stage of his presidency....Trump's actions likely haven't had time to concretely affect the economy yet.

But that won’t stop Trump, who called the BLS numbers a hoax during the campaign, from celebrating them as a validation of his policies and agenda. He already did so last month, even though January’s jobs report was based on data largely collected before his inauguration.

That was a small illustration of a larger pattern that’s played out across the government over the past seven weeks. (Today is Trump’s 50th day in office.)

T. Paine: "...some of our friends on the left are always going to be impervious to facts."

Sometimes I agree with you, Mr. Paine, but in the wider scope of things I believe conservatives lead in the "impervious to facts" race. The topic of climate change, and its glaring evidence, is only one example.

By the way, I also believe there's no evidence linking Trump's alleged collusion with the Russians. I've always felt this was a red herring not worthy of preparing for dinner. Now with WikiLeaks' latest data dump (Vault 7), it seems we now know who was behind that boondoggle. The more intriguing question is, why?

We live in a world turned upside down.

At 11:57 AM, Blogger Dave Dubya said...

JG,

While there may be no direct evidence of Trumpist collusion with Russia, the meetings and denials indicate more than meets the eye. Red Herring or not, in light of other facts, it should be investigated. Taking Trumpists at their word should be out of the question by now.

While not literally collusion, the result was the same as if it were. Trump openly invited Russia to hack and interfere with our election, and that interference is corroborated by the intelligence agencies.

The fact is Russia heard his invitation and helped Trump win.

The world is not upside down. It was always ruled by the rich and powerful. Democratic institutions and efforts for a representative republic were but a fleeting and failing holding action.

We are ruled by billionaires. They are the New Aristocracy and plutocracy.

Same old, same old. Powerful authoritarians have always known that humans are a herd animal, and can be easily frightened, angered, and manipulated by propaganda and divide and conquer tactics.

Dave, I don't mean "upside down" as to who the rulers are, and forever have been, but rather with the CIA's latest exposure and the manipulation behind it. The Agency had everything at its disposal, yet we're essentially led to believe (through the MSM) that the election was hacked by the Russians. I personally believe there was a "hacked" election. I'm not sure, yet, who the perpetrators were.

I'm suspecting "the man behind the curtain" at this juncture.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman said in an interview Sunday that the Russian ambassador who met with Trump campaign officials also met with “people working in think tanks advising Hillary or advising people working for Hillary.”

“Well, if you look at some people connected with Hillary Clinton during her campaign, you would probably see that he had lots of meetings of that kind,” Dmitry Peskov told CNN “GPS” host Fareed Zakaria. “There are lots of specialists in politology, people working in think tanks advising Hillary or advising people working for Hillary.”

Peskov said it is the job of Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak to meet with officials on both sides to talk about “bilateral relations.”
